My.Finland - "I have born to be Finnish Forestman - even if it sounds funny."
"You should never go to Finland just for fun. You might end up living there." – Kirsten, 21.12.2006.
My Finland is not gloomy, dark and cold farthest corner of the world. No. It's not empty forestry plant, where simply none wants to live, but some unlucky need to. It's an unique place, which has character of it's own with oddities and specialities that make it so familiar to me that no other place can really replace it in my life.
And what I especially mean? Do I mean midsummer rock festivals, carry wife competition, throw mobile phone competition, masked heavy bands, or something else. Yes. I mean something that that it is just for me. Places, including forests, lakes and swamps near our summer cottage and National Park Repovesi, but also corners of Helsinki, some of Kouvola, my Grandmothers farm at Nakkila, and numerous other places. People, including family, friends, workmates, those that I see at busses, shops, flea markets, .. Language, words, songs, ..
Finland is also place where I have done many things, shared many thoughts, had visions that have come true or not. All these things make it important. I have grown up there. I have found who I am and how I want to live.
Ps. If you have seen movies of Aki Kaurismäki please come to see how they are connected to finns and Finland. Places and people exist, definitively, but Akis Finland is found only after some careful excavations. Recommended for anyone wanting to experience serious fun.
